The 16’ skiff is a unique Australian high performance three man dinghy that has a long history being sailed for over 100 years. To keep costs low and provide closer racing, in 1998 strict rules for hull design and construction were introduced. The new design rules only allowed for two masts, three jibs, two mains and two spinnakers. Boats utilise these sails and rig combinations for optimal performance depending on different wind strengths.
