Congratulations to Southern Spars rigged’ Team Telefonica and Camper with Emirates Team New Zealand for obtaining first and second in the Leg 1. TRANSATLANTIC SUPERYACHT REGATTA
Congratulations to Southern Spars’ rigged Hetairos for taking line honours victory in the Transatlantic Superyacht Regatta 2011. The race was from Tenerife (Canary Islands) to Virgin Gorda (British Virgin Islands), a total distance of 2,700 nautical miles.

Southern Spars is pleased to announce that Virbac-Paprec III sailed by Jean-Pierre Dick and Jeremie Beyou took line honours in the tenth edition of the Transat Jacques Vabre (TJV). ROLEX MIDDLE SEA RACE
Southern Spars would like to congratulate Esimit Europa 2 on their line honours victory and Ran for coming in a close second; both yachts carry high modulus Southern Spars’ rigs.
INTERNATIONAL SUPERYACHT DESIGN AWARDS
TWIZZLE - The Royal Huisman-built 57m ketch Twizzle was named the best sailing yacht over 40-metres at this year’s International Superyacht Society (ISS) design awards. Twizzle also won the ISS award for best interior and, at the ShowBoats Design Awards, her representatives were presented with two awards for best interior and best recreational area for guest use.
KIBOKO - The 28.6m Southern Spars’ rigged sloop Kiboko, from Southern Wind Shipyard, won the award for best sailing yacht over 24-metres in the 2011 Nautical Design Awards presented in Milan.
ZEFIRA - Built in New Plymouth, New Zealand by Fitzroy Yachts, the 49.7-metre sloop Zefira - already named the 2011 world superyacht of the year – received two awards at the ShowBoats Design Awards ceremony in Florida. She was selected as having the best exterior design and styling of any superyacht in the past year; Zefira was also judged to have the best crew and service areas. She carries 40.2m (131.89’) from Southern Spars. Zefira also won the innovation award at the 2011 Nautical Design Awards.
KOKOMO - The 58.4-metre sloop Kokomo won the naval architecture award for sailing yachts in the 2011 ShowBoats Design Awards. Launched in 2010, Kokomo has already been named as the best sailing yacht over 40m in length in the 2010 ISS design awards. She carries a 75m (246’) rig from Southern Spars.
Southern Spars rigs featured on three other ISS design award finalists: the 46m ketch Christopher built by Pendennis in the UK, the 54.6m classic ketch Marie from Vitters Shipyard in The Netherlands and the 44.2m performance ketch Mari Cha III recently refitted by Derecktor Shipyards in the US
2011 MAXI YACHT ROLEX CUP
Southern Spars-rigged yachts achieved impressive results across all four divisions in the 2011 Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup in Porto Cervo, Italy.

ROLEX FASTNET RACE
Following her 2009 Fastnet victory, Niklas Zennström’s Southern Spars-rigged Rán is once again the overall winner of the Rolex Fastnet Race and the prestigious Fastnet Challenge Cup.
This is a massive win for Rán as she became the first back-to-back winner since Carina II in 1955/1957. The Judel/Vrolijk-designed 72ft Rán finished in Plymouth on Tuesday the 16th of August at 12:53:44pm BST and even then she was looking like a strong contender for the overall prize, but it was not until Thursday afternoon when it was officially confirmed by the Royal Ocean Racing Club.
30TH COPA DEL REY AUDI MAPFRE
Southern Spars-rigged Bribón won the 30th Copa del Rey Audi Mapfre in her farewell to the Majorcan regatta. José CuÍ’s TP52 Bribón’s farewell couldn’t have been sweeter; with a 4.5 point advantage over second classified Container.
