2013 ROLEX SYDNEY TO HOBART
Southern Spars rigged yachts have taken Line Honours victory in the Rolex Sydney to Hobart nine years running, with Wild Oats XI coming in on top for the 7th time; a record equalling feat. What is more significant to note is that Southern Spars rigged yachts have taken all of the podium spots for the past five years and top five in the past two years.

LOUIS VUITTON CUP
Emirates Team New Zealand won the 30th anniversary Louis Vuitton Cup with a 3:20 victory over Italy’s Luna Rossa Challenge in the eighth and deciding race. The Kiwis, who beat Luna Rossa in the previous Louis Vuitton Cup in 2007, won the series 7-1.
The victory made Emirates Team New Zealand the official challenger to ORACLE TEAM USA for the 34th America’s Cup in the “September Showdown”. It was the fifth time in the past six America’s Cup Matches that the Kiwis will be a contestant in the match.
WORLD SUPERYACHT AWARDS
Firstly Southern Spars would like to congratulate Alloy Yachts and Dubois Naval Architecture for their collaborated effort with the 47m Loretta Anne, winning the Motor Yacht of the Year 2013.

GAASTRA 52 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS
Niklas Zennstrom and the Ran Racing team secured the Gaastra 52 World Championship title on the final run of the last race of the series after a thrilling showdown off Miami's South Beach up against 52 SUPER SERIES champions and former world champions Southern Spars rigged Azzurra.
NZ MILLENNIUM CUP
After a stunning three days of racing at the NZ Millennium Cup 2013, the 30m Southern Spars’ rigged Zefiro was crowned the new winner of the Millennium Cup; with defender Silver Tip coming in second.
Zefiro had dominated with two wins and a second place and took first place overall. In second place was Silvertip, who also received the award for sportsmanship throughout the regatta. Third was Ohana, who in actual lapsed time was quickest round over the three races. Janice of Wyoming took fourth place, and an award for both the best exit, thanks to the water bomb offensive, and for her owners long term support of the New Zealand yachting industry. Sea Toy took fifth place after a valiant effort throughout.
All of the yachts competing were powered by Southern Spars’ rigs; Ohana, Janice of Wyoming, Silver Tip, Zefiro and Sea Toy.
VENDEE GLOBE 2012-13
EC6 bundled continuous carbon rigging has performed flawlessly for the third time during the iconic Vendée Globe round the world race.
Five of the top eight Open 60s which completed the 2012-13 Vendée Globe circumnavigation, including unofficial finisher Bernard Stamm, sported EC6 bundled carbon continuous side rigging from Composite Rigging and all five completed the marathon race without rigging issues.
After reconditioning, the EC6 rigging aboard Virbac-Paprec III skippered by Jean-Pierre Dick, Cheminees Poujoulat with Bernard Stamm, SynerCiel with Jean Le Cam, Gamesa with Mike Golding, who also took advantage of the flexibility of EC6 for his deflected backstays, and Mirabaud with Dominique Wavre will be ready to race again.
KEY WEST RACE WEEK
The Southern Spars rigged J/70 fleet really lit things up at Key West Race Week with the largest one-design class sailing in the event. Putting 39 boats on the line, the J/70 fleet eclipsed the venerable Melges 24 class.
93 of the 120 strong fleet were powered by Southern Spars.
