The 2012 World Superyacht Awards have been yet another great triumph for Southern Spars, expressing the quality and caliber of projects that the company is involved with. MAPFRE PALMA VELA

Four days of picture-perfect sailing conditions decided the winners of the 7th edition of the Mapfre PalmaVela regatta, which gathered 115 boats of 16 countries in the bay of Palma. The event`s closing day confirmed Southern Spars’ rigged Azzurra, Iberdrola and Southern’ rigged Jethou as the TP52, Soto 40 and Maxi winners respectively, and the Mapfre PalmaVela as one of the main events of the sailing season`s agenda.

ST BARTHS BUCKET
 

Southern Spars had some great results at the 2012 St Barths Bucket, with Lady B taking out the overall top spot. The newly refited Endeavour showed of her new Southern Spars rig, EC6 continuous rigging and North 3di sails with an outstanding win in the highly contested J-Class race.

Congratulations to the Southern Spars' rigged Gotta Love It 7 team of Seve Jarvin, Sam Newton and Scott Babbage for their brilliant performance in successfully defending their title in the Giltinan 18ft Skiff Championship on Sydney Harbour today. 

Second overall was Southern Spars' rigged Thurlow Fisher Lawyers (Michael Coxon, Aaron Links and Trent Barnabas) on 22 points

RORC CARIBBEAN 600

The RORC Caribbean 600 was a huge success for Southern Spars and was a great testament to the work the company is producing. Southern Spars rigged yachts came in 1st, 2nd and 3rd on line, and 1st and 2nd on corrected time; a great result.

NZ MILLENNIUM CUP 2012

After three days of racing, 33.8m Southern Spars rigged’ Silvertip, built by Yachting Developments, was declared the winner of the NZ Millennium Cup 2012. This is a great achievement for Silvertip after undergoing an extensive refit, which included the retrofitting of Southern Spars EC6 continuous rigging. All of the yachts that competed for the title sport Southern Spars rigs; 32m Eclipse, 48.5m Georgia, 44m Imagine and 39.6m Janice of Wyoming, all built by Alloy Yachts.

2012 KEY WEST RACE WEEK

Out of the one hundred and nineteen yachts that competed in the 2012 Key West Race Week, fifty seven of them sported Southern Spars rigs and six of them won their divisions. Southern Spars dominated the One Design fleets with all the Farr 40s, Farr 400s, Farr 30s, Melges 32s and Melges 24s all carrying Southern rigs. Another highlight for Southern Spars were the three Mini Maxi’s that competed in IRC division 1, which all utilized Southern rigs and EC6 continuous rigging.
