SOUTHERN FURL: in boom furling system

The Southern Furl is designed with the hydraulic drive located at the in-board end, has a unique flexi feeder system and an internal hydraulic outhaul adjustment. The boom has a sleeker, more rounded shape in appearance than the Leisure Furl.

Benefits of the Southern Furl

• Hydraulic drive system, located at the in-board end, concentrates
  weight to centre of vessel
• Fully articulated flexi feeder system aligns the sail perfectly with the
mandrel no matter what angle the boom is set to, and provides luff
support to the lowest possible point
• Internal hydraulic outhaul adjustment, which is internally mounted
inside the mandrel, allows the operator full control over sail shape
at the push of a button
• A manual backup offers additional safety
• Computer designed laminate for optimal structure and weight
• Customised options: in-boom batten storage, dinghy lifts, awnings
   covers, lighting systems
• Southern Furl can be retrofitted to increase sail area, upgrade sail
handling systems and improve weight distribution.

"We discovered, it is not even necessary to have the boom at the right angle to the mast when we drop the main sail with our Southern Furl. We have never had any problems when we reefthe sail no matter what weather conditions we were in."  Captain Brent Daw, Hetairos
