COLUMBIA 30

Launched in October 2004, the Columbia 30 Sport Yacht™ is a fast, trailerable yacht, designed for class racing and with reasonable accommodations for day or weekend cruising.

The Columbia team chose a Southern Spars two spreader carbon mast for their package. The mast and spreaders are constructed using a female bladder moulding process to produce an efficient high performance laminate. The tube is cured in one piece at 120 degrees Celsius, using over 3 bars of pressure to ensure each layer of laminate is compressed tightly together.

There is no backstay and rig tension/ adjustment is achieved via highly swept spreaders. The boat features asymmetric, mast-head masthead spinnakers (flown from a retractable carbon sprit), a large, flat-top mainsail similar to those used by the America’s Cup teams and a roller furling jib.
