MELGES 24

Officially launched in 1993 the Melges 24 was designed by Reichel Pugh and named after Buddy Melges who won the America’s Cup in 1992 on another Reichel Pugh designed yacht, America3.

By 2002 the Melges 24 popularity had grown so much on the international stage that the largest World Championships, with 127 competitors, was held.

Normally sailed with 4 crew, the Melges 24 package includes a carbon fibre spar, rudder, bowsprit and vertical keel fin. The 670 square foot asymmetrical spinnaker lifts and pulls the yacht forward on a downwind sprint, adding speed and ease of handling.
