M34 The Archambault M34 has beenselected as the new class for yachting's famous Tour De France a la Voile.
This innovative Joubert-Nivelt-Mercier design was selected by a panel of the yachting world’s ‘who’s who’ to replace the Farr 30, after 12 years of service, in 2011 as the official class boat for the circuit. The M34 has been designed as a yacht rugged enough to cope with offshore sailing, with a hull shape that lends itself towards easy road transportation, a draft shallow enough to enter tidal ports and a retractable bowsprit to guarantee those Asymmetrical blast reaches that really gets a sailor’s blood pumping. Southern Spars is the official mast supplier for the M34 One Design class and has designed and manufactured the carbon fibre masts in two sections using state-of-the-art Carbon Nanotube Technology (CNT). Unlike standard filament wound products, this high-tech process allows for carbon fibre wound tubes to be manufactured with the equivalent amount of zero degree fibre as its pre-preg counterparts, guaranteeing higher strength properties.
