BARCELONA WORLD RACE
Southern rigs Barcelona World Race supplying rigs for all 5 Open 60s who completed the 25 000 mile race, including non-stop race winner, Paprec-Virbac.

Mutua Madrilena, Javier Sanso (ESP) & Pachi Rivero (ESP) 5. Educacion Sin Fronteras, Servane Escoffier(FRA) & Albert Bargués
The race also recorded another first. Open 60 Hugo Boss, set a new 24hour distance record for a 60ft monohull (covering 499.22 nautical miles).
ROLEX BUENOS AIRES – RIO DE JANEIRO RACE
Rambler scores hat trick in the Rolex Buenos Aires – Rio de Janeiro Race, taking line honours, the overall handicap win and setting a new race record for the course, shaving 9 hours off the previous record.
The 90 footer was the first boat to finish the 1 123nm race, covering the course with a new race record in elapsed time of 4 days, 9hrs 55m and 45s, and today she was officially named the corrected time winner of the race also.
18 FOOT SKIFFS
Southern Spars would like to congratulate the crew of Gotta Love It 7, who officially became the new world champions in the 18 footer JJ Giltinan International Championships.
Congratulations also goes to defending champions, Fiat, who finished second overall. Three teams used Southern Spars carbon fibre masts – Gotta Love it 7, Fiat and Macquarie Real Estate.
