Southern Spars took on the refit of the rig and rigging of Adix, with the challenge of removing significant amounts of weight while remaining true to the yacht’s classic spirit. The owners wanted to performance more like that of a modern racer while keeping with the original look and feel.
The result of the refit the refit, which included new carbon fibre masts and rigging, was removing more than five and a half tons, or 36%, from the above-deck package. These massive savings have resulted in huge improvements in speed and handling for the yacht while remaining true to the yacht’s classic styling. She impressed at this year’s Caribbean 600, finishing second in the Superyacht Division.
